You never know what you might stumble upon when out doing errands in the neighborhood. 51 years in, it never gets old. Today’s stumble-upon was a film crew. Not totally unusual because this ‘hood is very popular for locations. Nevertheless, it always makes the mundane outing surprising and more enjoyable. The shoot took up the entire block. If it looks kind of boring, well, it kind of is. Having been involved in filming on NYC streets many years ago, it’s challenging, fun at times, and mostly a lot of hurry-up-and-and wait, and standing around. And I have tremendous admiration for the folks that do this. Incredible teamwork on everyone’s part. I stopped and asked a crew member what they were filming. It was day one on a new Netflix series, Myron Bolitar, based on the books by Harlan Coben. Coincidentally, Coben lives in my old hometown. It was a nice diversion and respite from this neighborhood’s recent and ongoing situation with the outbreak of Legionnaire’s disease.
