Supergirl | Melissa Benoist is “excited” to see Milly Alcock in the DCU.

Melissa Benoist can't wait to see Milly Alcock donning the Supergirl suit in theaters. The actress, who played the heroine in the six seasons of the series that bore her name, which aired between 2015 and 2021, spoke with Omelete to promote her new work, The Girls on the Bus.

When asked what advice she would give to the new Supergirl, Benoist stated: "I'm a fan of anyone who's wearing the cape! What Supergirl represents is very important, and it's a lovely experience to be included in this family of women who have played her. It's very special to be able to play such a beloved and iconic character. So, the more people who can do it, the better! Really." "I can't wait to see what she's going to do with Supergirl, especially because I think we all do something quite different with the character, while also borrowing things from our predecessors," the actress continued. "I know that my Supergirl, for example, was very much informed by Helen Slater's Supergirl... So, I'm excited to find out what Milly is going to do." Alcock was cast as Supergirl by James Gunn, the current head of DC in cinemas. She is set to star in her own film, tentatively titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, soon – but she may also make her debut in Superman, which Gunn is preparing for release on July 11, 2025. Meanwhile, the six seasons of Supergirl starring Melissa Benoist remain available for streaming on Netflix. The Girls on the Bus, the actress's new series, will air on Max.
